Event Overview
1. Will Austin Gutwein be at the event?
Yes, Austin will be hosting the Philadelphia Shoot-a-thon at the King of Prussia Mall on July 31, 2010.
2. How old you do you have to be to participate?
Our registration policy states that participants must be at least 13 years old to shoot free throws at Hoops of Hope All-Stars. Due to the number of requests we continue to receive for interest in allowing younger students, ages 8 – 12, to participate, we will be opening up participation to a younger age bracket. As opening up the lower age bracket requires an increased level of security as well as more chaperone/ parent oversight, we do ask that you call our Customer Care and Registration Desk at (615)815-1676 to allow us to better accommodate for the younger participants.
3. Will there be food available?
Yes, each event will have a large Vendor Plaza with lots of food and game vendors. The food is not being chartered in from the venue so costs will not be reflective of stadium food. Many of the vendors will be from the King of Prussia Mall.
4. How much money are the students responsible for raising?
We are encouraging every student to raise $250. In order to hit our goals to fulfill the community projects including health care, education and economic development in Zamtan, Zambia, each student will need to raise $250.
5. Can a student still participate in the event if they don’t raise at least $250?
We have based the amount of funds to be raised per student on previous free throw participation at Hoops of Hope events where students averaged $250 each. We will not prohibit a student from participating if they haven’t raised the minimum of $250 but we do encourage parents and youth leaders to help your students to step out and try their best to raise awareness and money for this event. There is something great that happens for the teen when they step out of their comfort zone and focus on helping others. If every student raises at least $250, then World Vision can complete the full projects which will change the lives of thousands in Zamtan, Zambia.
6. When does all the money need to be raised by?
Our goal is to have all the money raised by July 15th, before the event takes place but we will still accept funds through the event on July 31st.
7. What happens if I pay for a group of 12 teens to participate and can only get 6 students to commit?
We encourage you to check with your youth leader first to see about offering scholarships to members of the youth group that may not be able to attend the event without financial assistance. If you don’t have access to a youth group but would still like to offer scholarship tickets to those that need financial assistance, contact our Customer Care Desk and we can help find students that want to participate. If neither of these options work for you, then we can refund your money for the 6 open slots.
8. What if I pay for and sign up 12 students and then at a later date want to add more?
You can sign up as many students as you like unless we have already filled our 3,000 shooter slots. If you are signing up a group of 12 or more at a later date, we do our best to try and get the students in similar timeslots as the first group, however the registration fee may be different if registering later. Please note that our preference is to have an adult (chaperone) present at the event for every 12 students above the age of 13. For younger students, we request at least one adult (chaperone) for every 6 students. We want this to be a fun and safe time for everyone.
9. Can I pay by check?
Yes, just fill all the info out on the registration form and make your check payable to Synergy Production
Group and mail to:

participate for their sake.
8. Rough play
Hoops of Hope All-Stars places a strong emphasis on sportsmanship and the elimination of rough play, and seeks your help and cooperation. Court monitors will help enforce fair play but we ask that in the spirit of All-Stars, please allow every shooter a fair and safe chance to participate. If foul language and/ or aggressive play are displayed, the court monitor will take appropriate action which could result in removing the participant from the court and or Festival.
